Are You Ready To Get Involved?

Troop 224 Needs YOU!

We all are busy, but I’m a big believer that we make time for what’s important to us. Scouting isn’t like soccer or baseball where we’re on the sidelines cheering our child on. Scouting is hands on.

Whether you’re helping them learn how to tie knots or showing them how to use a hammer or teaching them how to cook their own breakfast, parents will definitely need to be involved.

This is the traditional Scouting experience for youth in the fifth grade through high school. Service, community engagement and leadership development become increasingly important parts of the program as youth lead their own activities and work their way toward earning Scouting’s highest rank, Eagle Scout.

Venturing is an inclusive program through the Boy Scouts of America for males and females aged 14-20 (or 13 and completed the 8th grade). It’s operated through Venturing Crews, units of youth and advisors that meet on set schedules and plan activities and events for youth like you!
Find a crew near you and join the fun!

Ask any of our volunteers and they’ll tell you, volunteering with Scouting is as rewarding to them as it is meaningful to the kids. Watching kids grow is one thing — leading them through the process is a whole new experience altogether.

Aims of Scouting

Every Scouting activity moves boys toward three basic aims:

Character Development
Citizenship Training
Mental and Physical Fitness

Methods of Scouting

Scouting's methods represent the tools we use, the path we take in reaching for our goals. In every Scouting activity, some element of each of these methods will be evident.

Scouting Ideals

Troop 224 operates with a simple vision... to provide unique experiences and opportunities through the scouting program that build young men into leaders of tomorrow.

Boy Scouting provides a series of surmountable obstacles and steps in overcoming them through the advancement method. The Boy Scout plans his advancement and progresses at his own pace as he meets each challenge.

Personal Growth

As Boy Scouts plan their activities and progress toward their goals, they experience personal growth. The Good Turn concept is a major part of the personal growth method of Boy Scouting.

Leadership Development

The Boy Scout program encourages boys to learn and practice leadership skills. Every Boy Scout has the opportunity to participate in both shared and total leadership situations.
